DGAS Women’s Drumming Project

DGAS is a small organisation run by women to encourage participation in African drumming. It was set up in 2004 and organises regular drumming sessions, workshops and a yearly drum camp for women.

DGAS has recieved funding from ‘Awards for All’ to run a number of drumming workshops for women who have experienced emotional or economic difficulty or personal trauma.

Our aim is to use these workshops to enable women to develop or re-establish attributes such as self-confidence, group working, communication, physical stamina and other faculties that they may feel are lacking because of their life circumstances.

Each workshop will have two skilled women teachers to run the group.
